 Product Introduction

The M8 Magnetic Proximity Sensor Series is a versatile and rugged position detection solution. Unlike inductive sensors that only detect metal at close range, this Hall Effect sensor detects magnetic fields at distances up to 10mm.

This series offers complete flexibility with NPN or PNP output options and Normally Open or Normally Closed logic. A key advantage is its Omnipolar sensing capability, allowing it to trigger regardless of whether the North or South pole of the magnet is presented. Housed in a Stainless Steel M8 body with IP67 sealing and an oil-resistant PUR cable, it is the perfect choice for pneumatic cylinder feedback, valve position monitoring, and robotic automation.

FAQ

Q:Does it matter which way I install the magnet?

A:No. This sensor is Omnipolar, meaning it detects both the North (N) and South (S) poles. As long as the magnet enters the 10mm sensing range, the sensor will trigger. This simplifies installation significantly.

Q:How do I choose between NPN and PNP?

A:NPN (Sinking): The output switches to 0V (Negative) when active. Common in Asian electronics and some US equipment.

PNP (Sourcing): The output switches to +24V (Positive) when active. This is the standard for European automation (Siemens, etc.).

Please specify your required output type when ordering.

Q:Can this sensor detect a magnet inside a cylinder?

A:Yes, provided the cylinder wall is non-ferrous (e.g., Aluminum, Brass, Plastic, or Stainless Steel). The magnetic field can pass through these materials. However, if the wall is made of Iron or Carbon Steel, it will block the magnetic field and the sensor will not work.
